Play by the Writing
Hey there,
For a long while, I have been using Espanso to quickly roll dice and oracles directly in the blog, so I can publish the Actual Play. When you see symbols like š² or arrows such as ā, they have been created with it.
Now I decided to formally put that in a software package, although under a price tag (it was quite some work!). I know it may not be really popular or great to charge for it, but the point is that to make this work, I had to write down a Python application to handle logic.
In order for users to not have to install python and many dependencies, and fall into configuration issues, I bundled it in executables (for Windows and Linux), and wrapped them up under an installer. This way, any of you can play with it and use it, only by having Espanso installed.
The package costs 3ā¬ and comes with two oracle engines built-in: Plot Unfolding Machine and One Page Solo Engine. If you pay 5ā¬ you get access to a dedicated OpenAI feature that auto-completes your context (based on what you copy-pasted). This will open certainly a few doors, check out this example animation:

Hi, Jeansen,
is this also available for iOS?
Hi Leonidas, sorry, Play by the Writing is not that demanded that it justifies the effort of supporting an extra platform. If you know some basic Python I can happily send you the source code so you can compile it and run it on your own š
Hi,
I perfectly understand. Iām not proficient in python, but thanks for the reply.
Cool concept. Sounds like a Jupyter sheet for solo RPG!
